Feedback From the Last Meeting
March Meeting:
We welcomed new folks and listened to updates. Dr. Schwartz came to speak with the group about the work he is doing. Dr. Schwartz lives and practices in Louisa, Virginia, and has had a wide range of experience in the medical field. Throughout his years as a practioner it has always concerned him that the medical field finds a quick fix via drug therapy, etc., yet is slow to acknowledge that there is often an underlying cause to people's ill health.
Dr. Schwartz now practices "normal" medicine and "alternative" medicine. He offers to help patients solve issues surrounding yeast overgrowth, heavy metal toxicity, gut ecology issues, etc. He presented findings from studies, especially one that indicated that many children with Autism are suffering from underlying health issues that must be treated rather than using drug therapy. He also presented a book called Healing the Hyperactive Brain : Through Functional Medicine by Dr Michael Lyon. Dr Schwartz also drew our attention to other practioners in the area who can help us with other health issues. Dr. Schwartz's talk was very interesting and point out many issues the group has raised in the past. Many thanks to Dr. Schwartz for taking the time to visit with us.
