Rotation Diets

by Dr. Lieberman

Years of experience in treating patients with any sort of allergic or hypersensitivity tendency has shown that identifying and managing allergens or stresses from all sources is the key to the greatest improvement in health.   Diet always plays a large part in that improvement, whether or not food seems to be directly involved in allergic symptoms.   We, at the COEM, have found that a way of eating that rotates food on a diversified basis provides:

  1. The ability for the immune system to repair itself, by minimizing adverse food reactions and preventing cumulative effects.

  2. A means of "unmasking" and identifying hidden food allergies.

  3. This means to regain tolerance to many of the foods to which you've become allergic. (Only 5 percent of all food allergies are "fixed" and cannot be overcome through a period of avoidance followed by consistent rotation).

  4. A way to prevent new food allergies from developing.

  5. A way to minimize even inhalant (dust, pollen, mold, etc) allergies, chemical sensitivities, and chronic infections, by reducing the total allergic load and providing improved nutrition.

  6. Optimum nutrition - a variety of foods is more likely to provide diversity and balance of needed nutrients.

  7. Feelings of satisfaction and well-being from meals - variety prevents boredom with meals and, by providing needed nutrients, helps prevent food cravings.

Thus, a rotation diet is the simplest, most easily mastered, most cost-effective approach to both good nutrition and overcoming allergic symptoms.
